The German Shepherd Dog Breed – Health Promotion through Research

The health of the German Shepherd Dog Breed matters to us and enjoys the highest possible priority. As early as in 1968 the Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde (SV) e.V. already started the implementation of an x-ray scheme in terms of HD prophylaxis, and thus became a true pioneer in this field. To the present day, the x-ray examination for HD and ED diagnostics is mandatory for all of our members who wish to enter the breeding program of the SV with their dogs. In the movie an SV member is being accompanied during the examination of her female German Shepherd Dog at a veterinary clinic and allows some deeper insight into the x-ray procedure and the most important aspects of the SV research program.
