What does „inbreeding“ mean?
Inbreeding is the pairing of related animals. It is used as breeding method in order to consolidate certain characteristics or performance features of a breed.
Thereby, the „good“ as well as the „bad“ characteristics can be consolidated. Good characteristics are the desired breeding goals (characteristics), bad characteristics are the feared “defects”, such as for example loss of performance or hereditary diseases. That is why inbreeding has been discussed controversially for years.
